KIO Networks: KIO QUERETARO 2 (QRO2)
About KIO QUERETARO 2 (QRO2)
KIO QRO2 is a large greenfield data centre currently under construction in the El Marques industrial area of Queretaro, Mexico. Upon completion, the facility will offer a substantial 12,917 square meters (139,000 sq ft) of IT space across three data halls, each measuring 1,200 square meters. Designed with a concurrently maintainable N+1 electrical infrastructure, KIO QRO2 will provide a total IT power capacity of 12MW, featuring redundant power distribution through six main electrical blocks plus a reserve block.
The cooling infrastructure is optimized for energy efficiency with an N+1 redundant design. Connectivity will be robust, with two diverse underground service entry routes and carrier-neutral access through more than 20 providers. This will be interconnected via dark fiber from KIO's existing QRO1 and QRO3 data centres, utilizing KIO's high-speed inter-data centre network. Physical security measures will include perimeter fencing, multi-factor biometric access controls, around-the-clock surveillance, and guard staff.
The initial 4MW phase at KIO QRO2 is scheduled to be ready-for-service in Q1 2024, with capacity expanding to 8-12MW by 2024-2025. This development positions KIO QRO2 as a state-of-the-art facility, providing high availability, energy efficiency, and robust security for mission-critical IT operations.
