Juniper Networks, a leader in secure, AI-driven networks, unveiled Contrail Insights, a network monitoring and analytics tool, aiming to simplify data center operations. According to Juniper, Contrail Insights provides historical and real-time visibility that cuts through layers of infrastructure to improve operational speed, experience, and reliability.
“We are excited to offer customers a comprehensive Contrail solution with the addition of Contrail Insights. Cloud frameworks within data centers have provided tremendous infrastructure automation, but also bring about added operational complexity. We have designed Contrail Insights to bring visibility to troubleshooting and analytics issues faced today with powerful tools for discovery and analysis through all layers of the network,” said Bikash Koley, Chief Technology Officer, Juniper Networks, in a statement.
With the help of telemetry collection, artificial intelligence, and an intuitive user interface for analysis and observability, Contrail Insights simplifies multicloud operations. It works with VMware, OpenStack, Kubernetes and public cloud environments, as well as private cloud data center infrastructure. The core features of the new tool are:
- Real-Time and Historic Visibility
- Troubleshooting Analysis
- Overlay and Underlay Correlation
By using machine learning-fed historical data and real-time streaming telemetry, Contrail Insights offers network visibility. It provides service-level and fine-grained observability for data center infrastructure, from the overlay and underlay networks to physical and virtual servers and their workloads. Juniper claims that the new data center topology heatmap allows operators to see the entire data center and then drill in to easily inspect localized issues.
According to Juniper, its troubleshooting analysis helps customers manage microbursts, monopolized resources, and noisy neighbors in a multi-tenant or shared private-cloud environment. Also, the overlay-underlay correlation and path finding features allow operators to uncover root cause by mapping virtual infrastructure for workloads and network abstractions down upon the physical infrastructure and network.
Contrail Insights is available standalone or as part of Contrail Enterprise Multicloud, a software-defined networking platform for enterprise data centers and public cloud deployments. It’s available with Contrail Cloud for service providers.
