China Mobile International Limited (CMI), a unit of China Mobile Ltd., launched its first overseas data center in Singapore. The six-floor facility is located in Singapore Tai Seng Industrial Park. The launch is a major milestone for CMI as it is their first in Singapore and the second data center in its Asia Pacific cloud network.
"The launch of our data center in Singapore is a significant step forward to bring together our global data center network. Through extensive submarine cable resources, our Singapore IDC will meet the demands of our customers in the Asia Pacific by providing low-latency and reliable services," said Li Feng, the chairman and chief executive officer of CMI.
CMI developed its Singapore data center because of “the enormous customer demand in Singapore and Asia Pacific.” Built and fully-owned by CMI, the data center houses more than 2,100 racks in a gross area of 17,490 square meters. The company informed that the design of the facility was in accordance with international Tier III+ TCDD and TCCF data center standards to offer optimal capabilities, high efficiency, and scalability. The facility is equipped with a new modular UPS system and a chilled water double pipe system providing 24-hour continuous cooling.
According to the company, the data center connects directly to CMI’s Local Ring in Singapore. Also, it is connected to its Asia Pacific submarine cable systems, the SJC, APG, and SJC2 and to the Asia-to-Europe SMW5 cable system. This provides seamless connections within and between Asia Pacific, Indian Ocean, Europe, Middle East, and Africa. It, thus, promises customers wide-ranging high-speed connectivity with CMI’s extensive global network resources. Moreover, with access to public cloud providers, enterprises can deploy multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud solutions and connect their networks across the globe, delivering secure and reliable cloud deployment, plus end-to-end management services.
CMI has an extensive global footprint of cable systems, POPs, and data centers. Headquartered in Hong Kong, CMI has expanded its footprint in 22 countries and regions. The company aims to provide customized IDC services and quality network connection services to enterprise customers in China and around the world.
